MHR4K is an innovative research program out of The University of Calgary and Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute

Client: Mental Health Research 4 Kids (MHR4K)

Mental health is important and so is mental health research. To have better outcomes for children and adolescents the MHR4K program needed a video to help spread awareness of the program and guide families with children and/or adolescents to the voluntary Research Registry.

The narrative follows courageous kid heroes traveling through space on a quest to explore why Mental Health Research Matters. Along the way, the kid heroes dash back down to Earth to join forces with the team of welcoming researchers. Together, this team of ragtag heroes are on a mission to help improve knowledge and treatment of child and adolescent mental health concerns. In the final scene, the viewer now becomes the third member of this crew as the heroes need their help.

External Work

I worked under the Senior Designer and the Marking & Communications Manager to bring external materials to life.

Internal work

I worked under the Learning & Development Manager to design materials and help promote internal training events.

Safe Lifting Card Game:

The Learning & Development Department needed help creating unique playing cards for the safety portion of the new employee training sessions. 20 unique cards were developed to help tell a story no matter what order or grouping of cards each group received. The more outrageous the story — the better!

One of my favourite ways to pass the time is to paint and draw. Below are a few selections of my creations with acrylics, oils, and inks.

Hello there,

My name is Taylor Johnson, and I am freelance graphic designer based out of mountainous Calgary, Canada. I graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in the Graphic Communications and Print Technology program. I have worked with small to medium brands on projects across print, web, illustration, and animation.

I grew up on a small farm in the far, far away land of Saskatchewan. I watched endless amounts of movies on DVD and was always in awe of the art and land around me. When I am away from the computer screen, I like painting, listening to podcasts, and trying to get outside as much as possible to enjoy the outdoors.

Let's work together to create something beautiful and impactful
